During the time of an exhibition1, fifty transparent bags filled with one kilo of sand each have been sent from Switzerland to Germany by post, where the exhibition was taking place. Because of the non-existence of a proper postal address and its location in the harbor area, the sandbags arrived with difficulties and were delayed. Whenever a bag arrived, the sand had to be removed in front of the space that was already surrounded by sand. For more than fifty years, the site has been used as a warehouse and transshipment center for mineral oil products, scrap metal, and goods such as sand, gravel, and coal. The emptied envelopes were displayed in the exhibition.
